Dancing with the Stars announces first celebrity contestant for season 32, Vanderpump Rules Ariana Madix

Vanderpump Rules star Ariana Madix is the first celebrity contestant announced for season 32 of Dancing with the Stars. Good Morning America revealed the news on Friday (July 7).

Rumors of Madix’s casting began on Wednesday, as she was spotted eating lunch with judge Derek Hough at Something About Her, the sandwich shop she co-owns with Katie Maloney. The next day, the dancer shared a teaser video via official GMA social media accounts filmed inside the shop.

A it turns out, the two were filming the official announcement which aired on Friday’s GMA. “This season on Dancing with the Stars, we are going absolutely mad, mad for Madix,” said Derek. “That’s right, I’m Vanderpump Rules‘ Ariana Madix and I will be joining the cast of Dancing with the Stars this season!” Derek added, “Say goodbye to the drama and hello to the dance floor!” They ended the clip with a few chest rolls. “Let’s dance!”

Ariana Madix, fresh off a cheating scandal

The news isn’t surprising. The rumor that Madix would be joining the cast has been swirling for weeks now. DWTS loves casting controversial celebrities. Those who follow the Bravo shows are aware of the cheating scandal. Actually, anybody who follows entertainment news is likely aware of how Madix’s boyfriend Tom Sandoval cheated on her with her (formerly!) close friend Raquel Leviss.

Although Vanderpump Rules had wrapped at the time the affair broke, Bravo immediately began filming more content, delivering series-high ratings for their explosive finale. SO MUCH CRYING AND YELLING.

Bravo’s Vanderpump Rules chronicles the lives of restauranteur Lisa Vanderpump and her current and former staff at the West Hollywood mainstay SUR.

Dancing with the Stars returns to ABC after streaming exclusively on Disney+

Dancing With the Stars will air Season 32 on ABC in the fall, moving back to its original network after a year of exclusively streaming on Disney+. However, the show will continuing airing live on Disney+ for the fans who want to follow it on the streamer.

Former pro dancer Julianne Hough has joined the season as Alfonso Ribeiro’s co-host as the controversial Tyra Banks bows out after three seasons. The judges will be Derek Hough, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli. In an emotional emotional announcement at the end of season 31 in November 2022, former head judge Len Goodman announced that Season 31 would be his last. Sadly the legendary judge and ballroom dancer died in April.
