Savion Wright returned to American Idol 14 after being cut last year right before the Top 30. The singer returned, after a year of working on his craft, with a new confidence.
During his audition, the Jasper TX native touched upon the tragic murder of his brother last year. Music has helped him heal. For the past year, Savion has been writing, touring and playing shows. Bettering himself. Indeed, Savion looks and sounds amazing. He sings and plays with a lightness that was missing from his last time at Idol. What a difference a year makes.
The singer/songwriter performed a self-penned tune last year. But this time he proves himself with a jazzy soulful rendition of Eric Clapton’s “Change the World,” accompanied by deft guitar work.
Judges Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr. were happy to once again advance Savion to Hollywood.
