The Voice 5 Top 10 – iTunes Rankings, Poll Results and Predictions

The Voice - Season 5

Well, look at that! Cole Vosbury leading the pack at #15. I would have not predicted that. Although his vocal was fine, I thought the song was boring. Some of you believe Cole is giving Duck Dynasty realness. Who knows. The dude is a versatile singer who has got people buying his iTunes. Wouldn’t it be funny if Blake won this season after all with a dark horse contestant?

Still, the highest charting iTunes is Matthew Schuler’s “Hallelujah” from last week at #11. None of the contestants had a runaway hit this week.  Cole, Matthew Schuler and James Wolpert charted in the Top 20. No one entered the Top 10.

Speaking of which. James redeemed himself, as I predicted he would. Kat Robichaud did not. She’ll surely hit B3 tonight. As will Austin Jeckes. Ouch at that iTunes ranking! He performed first, and the song pick was terrible. If Blake cared about him, he’d give Austin,  emotional ballads to sing, instead of this mid-tempo stuff that doesn’t allow him to connect. I’m wondering if Blake has put all his bets on Cole and doesn’t want him splitting votes with Austin.

I knew Jacquie Lee would score lower with her stripped down version of “Clarity.” but YIKES. Memo to Christina: Fans want Jacquie belting her tunes at the top of her lungs, Mkay? None of this subtle stuff for her. It didn’t work. It’s a good thing the young singer has a fan base, otherwise she’d be in trouble.

Never underestimate the Baby Boomer nostalgia card. Caroline Pennell charted decently, relatively speaking, with “Leaving on a Jet Plane.” Well THIS baby boomer thought it was a snore. So there you go. Tessanne Chin improved her chart position with a golden oldie. I still think she’s a middle packer, though.

Will Champlin is not connecting beyond a small fan base. He could be in the bottom today with Kat and Austin. Giving him an unknown song was a risk that didn’t pan out. Ray Boudreaux dipped a little this week. He could also end up in the bottom 3.

My B3 Prediction: Kat Robichaud, Austin Jenckes Will Champlin or Ray Boudreaux. Who will twitter peeps send home? Kat and Austin.
