Here’s my The Voice Top 6 power list! The Voice Season 5 live shows have been full of dramatic shifts and surprises. The contestant, Matthew Schuler, who topped last week’s list is now dead last! And the singer who I predicted would leave the competition, Will Champlin, is sitting at #3.
This season’s contestants, seem to live or die by their last performance, without strong fan bases to pull them through a difficult week. It makes for an unpredictable season, which is is good TV. I won’t even attempt to predict a winner at this point.
6. Matthew Schuler –Team Christina – What a difference a week makes. He was #1 on the power list last week. But one problematic performance sent Matthew plummeting down the iTunes chart and into the bottom 3. The good news is that America insta-saved him. The bad news is that he doesn’t seem to have a strong fan base that will get him through weeks with less than stellar performances. This week? He sits at the bottom of the list.
5. Tessanne Chin – Team Adam – Tessanne hasn’t hit bottom yet, but unlike the rest of the Top 6, she’s yet to have a major moment propel her to the top of iTunes. Yet. She’s still here. We’ll see if her luck continues to hold out.
4. James Wolpert – Team Adam – James’ performance of “Somebody to Love” was maybe the most polarizing of last week’s performances. People seemed to either love it (I did) or hate it. Like Jacquie, James seems to prevail, even through missteps. He could make the final.
3. Will Champlin – Team Adam – Will topped the iTunes list this week, but one bad performance could make it all go away. He could even be eliminated if he performs a song that doesn’t click with viewers. Will is a bit of a singing robot. He’s got to let his personality shine through if he’s to make it to the bitter end.
2. Jacquie Lee – Team Christina – Jacquie managed to rebound from her disastrous performance of “Clarity” two weeks ago. Notice it didn’t send her to the bottom 3 last week. That’s why my girl is #2 this week. She’s got people.
1. Cole Vosbury – Team Blake – Cole, as the most consistent performer of the remaining contestants, heads the list this week. His performances have sat at the top of the iTunes chart every week of the finals. Blake has got the formula down pat and is working it to perfection *psssthecouldwinyall*
