Hey guys! Welcome back to another night of The Voice blind auditions! Before the auditions begin, we’re reminded that the auditioners all have the same dream, and that the goal of the show is to find the next superstar. Adam has seven artists so far, Usher has seven, Shakira has six, and Blake has four.
First up is Megan Ruger – 26 – Just Like A Pill by Pink
Megan is from Twin Lakes, Wisconsin and she performs around Nashville. She’s a rocker, and she thinks it’s a challenge for people to accept her music. She feels stuck in Nashville. And here comes the sob story…Megan’s dad isn’t her biological father. Her voice is a bit nasally, but strong. Things really pick up at the chorus, and Blake and Usher turn around at the last minute.
Megan joins Team Blake. Didn’t see that one coming.
Morgan Wallen – 20 – Collide by Howie Day
Morgan is from Knoxville, TN, and he’s been singing and playing baseball since he was a little kid. He tore his UCL, which ended his baseball career, and allowed him the chance to pursue music. This is one of my favorite songs ever, and Morgan is doing an amazing job! He has such a cool, relaxed voice. Shakira and Usher press their buttons for Morgan.
Morgan goes with Team Usher.
James Cavern – 26 – Let’s Get It On by Marvin Gaye
James’ parents are from Vietnam, and they didn’t approve of his love of music. He lives in a practice room while trying to make it in music. I didn’t expect such a soulful voice to come out of James…it’s a pleasant surprise. It was pitchy in spots, but I think he could be really good with some work. None of the coaches turn around.
Quick flip through a few auditions…Dani Moz and Music Box go to Team Shakira and Lexi Luca goes to Team Blake.
Emily B – 33 – Wicked Game by Chris Isaak
Emily is from Idaho. She sings for television shows, movies, and artists, and she’s sung on the the Pitch Perfect, Muppets, and Cee Lo Green’s Christmas album. Emily had two different brain surgeries. Her voice is good, but sort of generic. She gets better as the song progresses, and Shakira, Blake, and Usher all turn around. The judges argue about who has the most soul!
Emily is on Team Shakira.
Stevie Joe – 19 – There Goes My Baby by Usher
Stevie’s parents were both in heavy metal bands while he was growing up. He was in a metal band in high school, but his style has changed greatly. He’s nervous singing a coach’s song. Stevie has a cool voice…definitely doesn’t match his look. His falsetto is great! Usher turns around, but the other judges don’t even bother.
Stevie goes to Team Usher.
Josh McMillan, Melany Watson, and Branden Mendoza don’t make it through. Spotlight on how Adam is being super picky tonight.
Audra McLaughlin – 21 – Angel From Montgomery by Bonnie Raitt
Audra’s from Philadelphia, and she has some sort of learning disability. Her parents are extremely supportive of her education and music. Adam finally turns for someone! Audra has a great voice and cool tone, and she hits a glory note at the end. All four judges are turned around by the end of the performance. She’s apparently the one they’ve been waiting for!
Audra is on Team Blake.
That’s it for tonight!!! Who’d you like best?
