UPDATE: There’s language in the Voting Help section on NBC that states there’s no Top 10 bonus during the final round. That rule is listed nowhere in the Official Voting Rules section. So, IDK.
All 3 finalists have performances that reached the Top 10. Congratulations to Tessanne for scoring another #1 performance! She’s nabbed the #2 spot as well with “Let it Be”, her duet with Adam Levine. Both she and Will Champlin have 2 songs in the Top 10. Jacquie Lee scored one. That means all 3 contestants can take advantage of the 5x bonus for hitting the Top 10. Will beat Jacquie by one chart position Seven of the 9 performances made the Top 20. All performances hit the Top 50.
However, it’s important to note, that according to voting rules posted on NBC.com, DUETS WILL NOT COUNT AS ITUNES VOTES. Voting details were NOT flashed after the contestant’s performances with their coaches.
Also, since I was thoroughly confused by the “cumulative vote totals” that are special to the final, I checked those rules too:
Following the broadcast of the finale performance episode, the artist receiving the highest number of total audience votes will be declared the winner of the Show. The audience vote consists of the cumulative number of votes received during the finale’s Voting Period by Phone Voting, Online Voting, and Text Voting, in addition to the Cumulative iTunes Vote Total.
The “Cumulative iTunes Vote Total” means the total number of iTunes purchases of an artist’s Eligible Songs from the live performances during the period commencing at 6:55 PM PT on November 4, 2013 and ending at 5:00 PM PT on December 16, 2013, up to a limit of one (1) download per Eligible Song per valid iTunes account, including any iTunes Bonuses (if any) previously earned by the artist. The Cumulative iTunes Vote Total will include iTunes downloads of Eligible Songs occurring during and outside the applicable Voting Period for the Show episodes airing on November 4 through December 9, as well as the period following the December 9 Show episode until 5:00 PM PT on December 16, 2013.
That includes iTunes sales from all eligible performances from the live shows. Also, if you already downloaded a song, it doesn’t count if you download it again. “…downloading an Eligible Song that the artist also performed in a prior episode will not count as a vote if you previously downloaded the song.” I’m not completely clear what this means for the reprise songs, as those tunes were not available during a voting window.
Jacquie has done consistently well week in and week out in sales, while Tessanne and Will didn’t come on strong until later in the competition. Those of you good at crunching numbers can look at the chart numbers for Top 12, Top 10, Top 8, Top 6, Top 5.
Here are my predictions: Tessanne Chin will win The Voice. She peaked at the right time. She clearly won the iTunes race this week, in all aspects, and I feel pretty confident that she won in the phone and online votes. Jacquie Lee will be her runner-up. Yeah, Will beat Jacquie by one chart position this week, but overall, she kicks his ass in iTunes downloads. Will Champlin will come in 3rd.
WHOOPS. I totally forgot to put up polls last night. My bad. So why not do them now? I’ll update the post with a few thoughts about the results later.
