Singing show alum excellence represented on CBS Mornings today (Nov 3). Late Show bandleader, Jon Batiste performed “Sing” with American Idol and Masked Singer alum Tori Kelly.
But that’s not all! Check out the couch. The Voice season 19 standouts Desz and Tamara Jade are center and far right providing sweet backgrounds to the soulful sounds.
In an earlier interview, Batiste chatted about the deluxe edition of his album We Are and Tori’s immense talent. The bandleader and composer described “Sing” as a “call to the world to join us and be healed in the spiritual practice of singing.”
He continued, “Tori is one of the great singers of the world. I wrote this song, and I always thought it was a duet. Just being able to put it together in this way, in this time in the world, it’s just perfect.” Batiste added, “People need healing, and I think music is going to play an important role in the years to come.”
Tamara, who competed on Team John Legend, wrote on Twitter, “Remember that time I told y’all I hung out with @torikelly Here ya go!” When a fan asked “…is that the lovely Desz in the middle?” Tamara replied, “It sure is!”
Desz, a member of Team Kelly Clarkson, finished the season in fourth place behind winner Carter Rubin (Check out his new song).
Of course, American Idol famously eliminated 16 year old Tori just before the Season 9 Top 24 in 2010. NOT SMART! Her most recent reality show appearance involved donning a Seahorse costume for The Masked Singer season 4, where voters eliminated her in the semifinal.
