Lauren Alaina is no stranger to reality TV. In 2011 as a 16 year old, the singer placed second on American Idol season 10 in 2011. The win launched her successful country music career. And in 2019, Lauren gave ballroom dancing a try, twirling all the way to the finals with pro-partner Gleb Savchenko.
Now the country music artist will roll up her sleeves on the CBS home makeover show Secret Celebrity Renovation. Lauren with the help of the show’s contractors and designers, updated the Georgia home of her high school cheer coach, Susan Bradley.
Lauren explains in a promo that Susan is like a “second mom” to her. The two are so close, that during Lauren’s time on American Idol, when her mom had to go home to attend her brother’s high school graduation, Susan stepped in as chaperone.
The singer can’t wait to pay back the woman who kept her grounded as her career in country music took off. Lauren’s episode airs on Friday August 6 on CBS. Check out a few previews below.
Lauren says Susan always pushed her to try harder. “She always believed in me.” But “Susan would never ask for anything from me. I think she’s going to be overwhelmed.”
The team looks over Susan’s house. Lauren explains that she was in the middle of a renovation, when she ran out of money. The designers want to gut the house!
