So…enjoy your last season of So You Think You Can Dance? Last night’s premiere was its lowest rated yet. Nigel Lythgoe has been begging folks on twitter to watch, warning that the show is on the bubble. Sadly, even the Biebs couldn’t lift the numbers.
ETA: Nigel is thanking folks on twitter for higher ratings, but it’s the number of households that rose from last year. More people watched last summer’s premiere, but not in the 18-49 demo the advertisers covet. From Marc Berman’s Newsletter:
In season-premiere news, perennial summer reality/competition “So You Think You Can Dance” returned on Fox with a 4.0/ 6 in households from 8-10 p.m. Comparably, this was five percent above the year-ago season-opener (3.8/ 6 on Tuesday, May 14, 2013), but 17 percent below its season-premiere in this time period on May 14, 2012 (4.8/ 8). That 3.8 in the overnights last year translated into 5.12 million viewers and a 1.9 rating/6 share among adults 18-49, based on the Live Plus Same Day data, which was its lowest debut. And the 4.8 in the overnights in 2012 translated into 6.26 million viewers and a 2.4/ 8 in the demo.
