Eliminated X Factor contestant, Dexter Haygood told the press that he negotiated a deal with X Factor producers to leave the show prior to his elimination. Not so say Simon’s PR peeps, in a statement to Yahoo Music.
Ann-Marie Thomson, global head of media for Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment, outright denies Dexter’s story. “There’s no truth in this at all,” she counters. “Dexter always said he was very happy with everything leading up to last week’s show and he had no conversation with either Nicole or producers to the contrary. In fact, it was the opposite: He was always very positive about the song, the show, and his performance.”
To be honest, I don’t know the man, but Dexter Haygood always struck me as a few sammiches short of a picnic, know what I mean? Simon’s people could be covering up. But think about it–if a contestant wanted to go, wouldn’t they just let them quit rather than go through the charade of performing for the judges? Dexter needs to be grateful for the exposure and move on to the next phase of his life. He’s not doing himself any favors here.
