Last night on The X Factor was pretty damn good if you ask me. Good enough that I’m having trouble picking a clear bottom 3. Who makes the semi final? Join me at 3 PM eastern as I liveblog the results.
Nobody gets a negative edit in the intro. Ok. That’s nice I guess.
Dermot enters the stage. Simon reveals that the 6 acts who make it through to the semi final are going to go on the X Factor Tour next year.
Recap of last night now.
After the recap, The Top 8 are assembled on stage and are declared “safe for now” one by one, until Scarlett and Bella are left on stage. Scarlett is crying her eyes out while Bella comforts her. we learn that the act with the lowest number of votes is Bella Penfold. No surprise there for me. She got bussed hard last night and was the only one who did. When Dermott calls Bella’s name, she seems a little surprised.
*MJ here. Eric is having trouble with his WiFi. I’m taking over.
The first guest, Tom Walker takes the stage to perform his single, “Leave a Light On.” His album will be out early next year.

And after the break, former X Factor judge Cheryl takes the stage to perform her new single “Love Made Me Do It.” Dermott asks is she’s missing Simon. “No” she says. She likes Dalton and was a fan of Misunderstood.

Next, is a clip of the Top 8 sharing what it would meant to them to make next week’s semi-final.
And now it’s time to find out once again, who is safe and who is going to the semifinals. In no particular order, the first act going through to the semi-final next week is…Danny Tetley! The next act going through to the semi-final is…Dalton Harris! Also through on the public vote is…Brendan Murray!!! Also going through to next week’s semi-final is…Anthony Russell. The final act safe is…Scarlett. WHAT. SHAN IS NOT SAFE. That’s bullcrap.
Shan Ako and Acacia and Aaliya will sing off after the break.
Shan Ako – Rise Up by Andra Day – It’s shocking that Shan is in the bottom 2. I can’t imagine under any circumstances the judges allow her to slip away. Unless they insist on the groups being represented in the semis. In any case, it’s another terrific performance from Shan.
Acacia & Aliyah – Bang Bang by Ariana Grande ft Nicki Minaj – STOP trying to make these girls happen. They’ve already been in the bottom time to go home. Besides, that “original” song they performed last night was horrible.
OK judges. Do the right thing.
Simon Cowell – He felt both sing offs were “amazing.” He calls Shan “a star” and he sends home Acacia and Aaliya.
Nile Rodgers – Of course, he saves his act. He sends home Shan Ako.
Louis Tomlinson – He sends home Acacia and Aaliya.
Ayda Williams – She wimps out and throws it to DEADLOCK. Because there was no way she would be responsible for sending hubby’s last act home. The groups were a trainwreck this season.
And Shan is the act with the lowest number of votes therefore eliminated. GOOD GOING AYDA. What a GARBAGE result. It blows my mind that Shan got the fewest number of votes. She performed “Summertime”– one of the few to actually STICK TO THE THEME. She performed early in the line-up. Maybe that hurt her. Who knows. In any case, she should have been saved.
Simon announces the X Factor tour will be Top 8, instead of Top 6 as previously announced. “I’m devastated,”says Simon. But at least Shan will be able to join the tour. That’s good news for Bella as well–another one of Simon’s girls.
Next week’s theme is the songs of the legendary Swedish pop group Abba.
