Last night, Fleur East delivered a brilliant performance of “Uptown Funk”. Her confidence, swagger and dancing skills really are a great gift. Her vocals were well backed by a backing track and the song isn’t really vocally challenging, so it was perfect for Fleur. Unfortunately, Fleur’s Christmas song, “All I Want For Christmas Is You” displayed her vocal shortcomings rather well.
Ben Haenow delivered two solid to great performances last night and the production on his second song “Hallelujah” got many of us wondering if he is the one TPTB really want to win.
Andrea Faustini turned in two of his signature performances. Generally, I’m a fan of big voices, but Andrea’s endless runs and silly faces got old for me real fast. But he is still here and quite frankly, I don’t have the energy to critique his singing style. I think he gave two decent performances last night.
Lauren Platt gave two performances that fell flat. Both of her song choices were a bad fit for her. Over on Sofabet blog someone mentioned that Lauren’s two songs would fit Stereo Kicks a lot better and I could actually agree with that. After last night’s show I wish Simon didn’t give in to Cheryl’s pleading last Sunday. Lauren lost her mojo a long time ago, it was her time to go last week, regardless of her great sing off performance.
We start with another cold open. Sam Bailey, Idina Menzel & Michael Buble and Fifth Harmony are performing tonight. TOP 4 will join Fifth Harmony on stage to sing “Bo$$”. Idina Menzel’s special guest is Michael Buble, if my sources are correct.
The voting is still open.
Time for Fifth Harmony. Look at that production! The girls are indeed doing “Bo$$”. I wonder how they will fit Ben, Lauren and Andrea into this. Fleur should fit right in. Wait, where were the TOP 4? Dermot promised us they would join the girls?

Anyway, time for a RECAP!
Time for our second guest, season 10 winner, Sam Bailey. She released her debut album in March for Mother’s day and they gave birth to her third child in September. She named her newborn girl Miley. Tonight she is singing a dreary ballad “With You”.
The phone lines are now closed.
We are back.
The profits from this year’s winner’s single will go to charity “Together For Short Lives”. We meet Alicia, teenage girl with a genetic illness. The 4 finalists visited children’s hospice.
Time for the results!
Safe:
Fleur East
Ben Haenow
Bottom 2:
Lauren Platt
Andrea Faustini
The winner of the sing off will join Fleur and Ben in the final.
We are back and Idina Menzel and Michael Buble are here to sing “Baby It’s Cold Outside” from Idina’s Christmas album.

We are going to another break. Get ready for the sing off.
We are back.
Lauren Platt sings “There You’ll Be” by Faith Hill.
This one definitely isn’t one of her well rehearsed go-to songs. The first part was bad.
Andrea Faustini sings Jessie J’s “Who You Are”.
I had to turn the volume down by 80%.
DECISION:
Cheryl sends home Andrea Faustini.
Mel B sends home Lauren Platt.
Louis sends home Lauren Platt.
Simon sends home Lauren Platt.
Lauren Platt is leaving us tonight. Andrea Faustini joins Fleur East and Ben Haenow in the final.
The 3 finalists will tour the country and campaign. They will travel on customized buses. That’s a first!
Guest performers in the final: Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Meghan Trainor, Olly Murs, Demi Lovato and One Direction.
I presume Ed, Sam and Meghan will duet with the final three. Olly and Demi will sing Olly’s new single and One Direction will sing their current single.
Lauren Platt misses out on a place in live final as judges choose Andrea Faustini to go up against Ben Haenow and Fleur East for X Factor crown

Four contestants – Lauren, Andrea Faustini, Ben Haenow and Fleur East – returned to the stage on Sunday night to discover whether they had been voted through to the final three.
It emerged that both of Simon Cowell’s acts Ben and Fleur had sailed through the semi-finals following their double performances on Saturday.
