Last Thursday’s X Factor was extended to 2 hours from it’s originally scheduled 90 minutes (of course, my DVR was still set for 90 minutes. Boo) Now, FOX has decided to pull a new episode of New Girl to extend next Tuesday’s Oct. 18 X Factor from 90 minutes to 2 hours.
Wednesday October 12 and Thursday October 13 have also been extended to 2 hours. Hooray? (Via Futon Critic).
(Yes, the Tuesday episodes are scheduled to accommodate the World Series. That’s why we are losing New Girl, Raising Hope and Glee until November)
The first live X Factor is a special Tuesday show airing on October 25 and it’s TWO AND A HALF EFFING HOURS LONG. Is Simon Cowell out of his mind? The schedule has it listed as the “Top 16 revealed”, but I wonder if it won’t be like X Factor UK.
The first live X Factor UK show aired Saturday night, and featured the Top 16 performing for the first time. The following night, each of the mentors cut one of their acts, decreasing the finalists to a Top 12 in one fell swoop. If you do the math on the remaining live X Factor USA shows, it becomes clear they will either have to cut contestants up front, or have a bunch of double eliminations.
I’m betting the mentors make the 1st cuts–more control that way.
