Crystal's Indianapolis IN Recap

This was an outdoor concert. The only outdoor concert so far (according to several of the idols.) Due to timing, the first half of the concert was in broad daylight. Bonus? I got to see all the guys goofing off backstage. The stage is open steel work, btw, and there really isn't a backstage, per se.

Anyway. Chris was dorking around on a scooter. Very funny. Elliott was standing on a railing, taking pictures of the crowd. Crowd was HUGE. I think I got a couple of pictures of the crowd. You have to put the two pictures together to see the full audience. It was that large. And freaking LOUD.  Anyway, Elliott's standing on this railing when Taylor walks behind him and tries to pull his pants down. Guys, we almost got to see if the Mr. 9 rumor is true. Elliott goofed around on the scooter. Boy's got some moves.  So did Bucky. Meanwhile, my mother, who is almost 50, is standing by the railing, getting pics of the idols. A security guy orders her to stay behind the trashcan. Mom's responds by scooting the trashcan up with her foot so she can get closer.  Security guy: "Hey!" Mom: *shrugs* "You told me to stay behind the trashcan. You didn't tell me I couldn't move it." I love my mother. At one point, Taylor peeks his head out between the buses. Mom screams, "TAYLOR!" He looks right at her, and she gets a picture. I'm sitting on my seat covering my face. "I don't know that woman. Total stranger. Complete coincidence that she looks exactly like me." *crawls under seat*

Concert starts. We have track seats. What that means is, we're very VERY close to the stage, but you have to stand the whole time. Ace opens. No mention of Mandisa. Ace kicks ass all over that stage.

Let me stop here to say something. I'm primarily a Kat fan. I can take or leave the other idols. Until tonight. Now I'm a fan of all of them. They seriously kicked some f-ing ass.

Lisa was incredible. Paris has got some moves. Bucky sounded great. Kellie was much better than I remember.  She can also move. At one point Mom leans over and says, "Damn. Girl's got a hell of a swing on that back porch."

Intermission. Now Bucky's dorking around on the scooter again. Kellie jumps on the back, holds onto Bucky, and they go scooting around. They stop at one point, by the fence, and a crowd rushes over to meet them and get pics.

Show starts back up. Now people who know me know I snark on Chris. But I was unbelievably impressed. Chris is really something. He sang much better than I remember, and lit that stage on fire. At that point, I had given up on the seats and was standing off to the side, several rows up. I've got some decent pics, I think, but they're from a weird angle.

Elliott joins Chris. Most people who know me also know that I've never been impressed with Elliott. That changed tonight. He was incredible. I've said before that all he needed was some confidence on stage. He's got it. Oh, and he was wearing a Peyton Manning jersey. HUGE points with this audience.

Honestly, I wasn't that impressed with Patience. It was all right, but not as good as I was expecting.

Now Kat. Kat was spectacular. She was still holding her voice back a tad on BHatCT, but she rocked it. Girl can move, too. Loving that black dress. She was adorkable in her little speech. Kellie had mentioned earlier that she and Kat had sneaked off to pet the goats and other animals. Kat talked about how she'd never been to a fair like this before, and this was her favorite stop of the tour so far.   BTW, I heard the country stuff. I get it all the time, so it didn't bug me.

SotR gave me chills. Un-freaking-believable. It was a totally different version than I've ever heard her sing. She nailed it. My mother started crying. The hair on the back of my neck stood up, y'all.

Now for Taylor. I knew he was coming out, but I couldn't believe how he did it. An Indiana State Police car drove up to the right side of the audience with sirens and lights blazing. Taylor popped out. He was about three feet away from me. Mom and I both have pictures of that.

Taylor rocked the house. No other way to describe it. He owned that stage.

Final group number was fantastic. Kat's can move. Sorry Kat fans. I was too busy watching to get decent pictures.

Bottom line - I loved the show. It was fanastic.
